Presidential Elections: Patil wins by more than 3 lakhs vote

India got its first woman President. Pratibha Patil won the Presidential elctions by 3,06,810 votes. Pratibha Patil, the UPA candidate defeated her rival Bhairon Singh Shekhawat who was backed by the NDA.There was some cross voting by BJP dissidents in Gujrat and Madhya Pradesh.

Bhairon Shingh Shekhawat has resigned from the position of Vive President as well

In Assam, Pratibha Patil has secured 92 votes while Shekhawat has secured 20 votes.

At this movement UPA-Left nominee Pratibha Patil has elected as President of India defeated NDA backed Independent candidate Bhairon Singh Shekhawat by over three lakh votes.She received 638,116 votes while Shekhawat got 331,306 votes.today made history by getting elected as the first woman President of the country. In my view the credit goes to Mrs.Sonia Gandhi .
