Chaiding incident: Will the prisoners of conscience awake?

The death toll at Chaiding has gone up to 45 on Friday night when they were trying to pilfer crude oil from a goods train along the Assam-Nagaland boder in Karbi Anglong district. But how the incident took place? Everybody knows how miscreants backed by a section police and NF Railway officials have been pilfering crude oil without any hindrance. The death of two NSCN(IM) cadres in the incident has revealed that a section of Naga rebels are also involved in this infamous racket.
It’s a routine work of a section of miscreants. Goods trains are halted at this spot and crude oil worth crores of rupees are unloaded from wagons each and every day. A section of local residents also have been helping these miscreants pilfering crude oil for Rs 1, 000 a night.

According to information, these miscreants mired in the crude oil pilferage mostly belong to Nagaland. But the number of local residents are no less than these miscreants. Some Bangladeshi immigrants in the areas are also forcibly involved in this racket. Hundreds of empty vessels found on the spot after the Friday incident are enough to understand the quantity of crude oil pilfered daily. Was the NF Railway aware of these? The answer is yes. Even security arrangement was under consideration. But the entire racket was running in such a planned manner that it was beyond the reach of these security forces.

And what about the police? They were also aware of these. Police also were getting ready to deal with the bust infamous deal.

But it’s a daunting task for six policemen to deal with the face a gang of well equipped with sophisticated weapons. On Friday night, their were more than two hundred people on the spot who gathered here for pilfering crude oil an well planned one. The armed miscreants were providing safety and security for those deployed in crude oil pilferage.

Two NSCN(IM) cadres are also in the list of the deceased. This has been confirmed by police. Also, it’s certain that several cadres of rebel outfits in Assam are also involved in it. Crude oil thus pilfered are rushed to Nagaland and Dimapur runs this racket.

There is no denying the fact that it’s impossible without tacit help and support from a section of NF Railway officials. The railway police also agree that a section of police officials have been helping the miscreants run the dirty business. Will the prisoners of conscience awake? Over to the people.
