Assam, M’laya to talk border dispute by Sp 22

Both Assam and Meghalaya are in a mood to resolve the vexed interstate border dispute with an acceptable formula.
The Meghalaya Government has written to its Assam counterpart on Tuesday proposing a day in between September 19 and 22 for a talk between the two chief secretaries.
Sources told  Assam Times that the proposed meeting would mark the resumption of the earlier rounds of talks between Dispur and Shillong on the same issue.
Signed by Meghalaya state Chief Secretary Y. Tsering, the letter was sent to Dispur on  Tuesday. “Now let Dispur fix the schedule of the proposed talks at an earlier date,” said a senior officer in Shilong.
The move for the resumption of the talks takes place a couple of days after Assam minister Chandra Mohan Patowary on the floor of the assembly alleged encroachment by the neighbouring state in Langpih area.
