Students urged to march ahead

The Tangla college unit ABSU (All Bodo Students' Union) organised Dr. Bashiram Boro memorial fresh men social ceremony of Bodo students at Bordoloi Bhawan of Tangla on Monday.
Prof Krishna Basumatary in  his key-note speech Basumatary urged students to dream of highest goals and march ahead with dedication.He observed that students should know their strong points develop skills and hone them to be sucessful.

Lawrence Islary General Secretary ABSU graced the event as chief guest. In his lecture he recalled the history of the growth of Bodo literature. He reiterated the role played by ABSU in upliftment of education scenario among the Bodo community. He exhorted students to follow the pathway of sucessfull Bodo people like Harishankhar Brahma and Ranjit Shekhar Moshahary .He called for economic,social and political development of the Bodos .He reiteirated ABSU's initiatives like holding career counselling,motivational programme and civil service tutorial programmes for the upliftment of students of BTC region. 

Attending the programme as appointed speaker Tenzing Bodosa an organic tea planter whose tea garden holds the certification as the world’s first elephant-friendly farms by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). 

 

Bodosa spoke on his journey from being a school drop-out to establishing an organic tea processing unit. He spoke on the harmful effects of chemical pesticides used in farming lands. He exhorted the stidents not to be swayed away by trend and come forward to pursue farming as a career.

Others present include Kabin Boro President ABSU Tangla unit along with Dr. Rita Boro,Nripen Boro,Someswar Boro teachers of Tangla College.

As part of Swach Bharat Abhiyan, sanitation wing of Tangla Town Commitee today organised cleanliness drive in the town. Several areas of the town have been cleaned of garbage, horticulture waste and debris. The cleanliness drive was joined by local people suppoted by members of Akhil Hindi Bhashi Bikas Parishad, students of Dr. BR Ambedkar Hindi Medium school along with the sanitary workers of the town committee. Students were seen holding playcards like 'God gave us green let us keep it clean', Use Dustbin and Live Green etc. 
The silver jubilee session of Udalguri district ‘Bathou Mahasabha’ is going to be held at Harisinga from February 6 to 9, 2016. The Harisinga Bathaou Anchalik has taken the initiative to organise this big religious event of the Bodo culture. The venue of the event is fixed at Sonaisri Fwthar, Harisinga. Meanwhile volunteers have been put to work to colect population and education data of the Bodo people and with the collected data a souvenir magazine would be published where data's of population; education, occupation of people number of service holder, cultivates, buisiness man would be published.
The 12 hour Assam bandh called by Hiteswar Barman led AKRSU in demand of ST status to six communities of state namely the Koch Rajbongsi, Adivasi, Motok, Moran, Chutia and Tai Ahoms had paralysed life in the buisiness and educational town of Udalguri district Tangla. All shops and business establishments, educational and financial institutes remained closed during the bandh period. However few schools and Junior colleges with low attendence of students functioned till 12.Except some private vehicles no other vehicles were seen plying on the roads in the town. No untoward incident occurred in the town during the bandh period.
Akhil Hindi Bhasi Vikash Parishad, that works towards the interest of the Hindi speaking communities of four districts of BTC, had its general meeting on November 15 at Tangla where it had formed its regional committee. The meeting was presided over by Central General Secretary Santosh Shah. Speaking on the occassion he said that sole objective of the organization is to uplift the community in socio-economic, educational and cultural spheres. Chhath puja would be observed on riverbanks and near other water bodies on November 17 and 18 at Tangla. The festival include rigorous fast and rituals spanning four days, holy bathing, abstaining from drinking water, presenting offerings(argh) to the Sun God, standing in water and offering prasad In Tangla devotees would offer their prayers on the bank of two rivers Nonai and Naika. Students of Arunodoi Academy Tangla celebrated Children's day in a special way. The students under the guidance of Principal of the academy Napolean Daimari distributed food packets among the patients of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha Hospital, Tangla. Hospital authorities thanked the initiative of the students. Arunodoi Academy has been taking charitable works in the area for the last several years in the interest of society. The 15th foundation day celebration of Tangla college unit body of All BTC Bengali Youth Student's Federation was held on Friday at Bordoloi Bhawan, Tangla. The meeting was presided over by Chief Adviser ABBYSF Shyamal Sarkar. The function was marked by dance programme where students of Tangla college and various Junior College of the town performed.
