Normal life in Raha  in the central Assam district of Nagaon remained paralyzed  on Monday following a 12 hour local bandh call by the former rebels in protest against the recent attack on a few of their colleagues at Panigaon. 

Roads in this entire sub urban area wore a deserted look from 5 in the morning for 12 hours as vehicles refused to ply. Shops and markers opened on at 5 in the evening. 

“The bandh was peaceful and there was report of any untoward incident during this period.

Apprehending stray incidents, we have deployed security forces from  early in the morning,” said a district administration official. 

A trader along with a few of his associates severally assaulted a team of former rebels as they were raising funds to feed the flood hit people.

Raha : The overall flood situation in Nagaon district remained grave for the second day today as incessent rain has been keeping all the rivers of Nagaon district constantly in spate. Raha, Nagaon: Assam State Transport Corporation(ASTC) bus service from Kampur to Nagaon via Kampur-Raha route was flagged off on August 30 by the divisional superintendent, Apurba Barkakati of ASTC amidst cheers of the local citizens. States first record room to be set up in Nagaon

Raha: The State Forest Minister Rokibull Hussain has at last shown interest to set up the state's first Record Room in Nagaon where all officials and non-officials records of Nagaon district will be preserved in a scientific way.
