Despite I-Day boycott call by the north eastern rebel outfits, Assam is going to observe the Independence Day with a three-day programme across the state.
Amid tight security arrangement, the Deputy Commissioners and Sub-Divisional Officers have received instructions from Dispur to organize various programmes in for three days beginning August from Sunday.
Official sources told Assam Times that extempore speech, drawing, music and other similar competitions among school the school goers are lined up on the occasion.
August 14 will start with 'Run for National Integrity in all Circles, Blocks, District and Sub-Divisional Headquarters.
Sports and games are also organised among children and youth and the prizes would be distributed in the main Independence Day function.
