AASU leader passes away

Tapan Das , Headmaster , Nelipar Primary School and a former leader of Raha unit of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU)  who actively participated in Assam agitation passed away at his house at Chaparmukh following prolonged illness on Tuesday. He was 54.

A popular personality of the area, he was loved and respected by all sections of people for his amiable disposition. He leaves behind his wife, a son and a daughter. A pall of gloom descended at Raha and Chaparmukh as soon as the news of his demise spread. Different organisations, including Raha AASU unit have mourned Das’s demise.

Flood Situation in Nagaon Dhemaji grim

Raha : The overall flood situation in Nagaon district remained grave for the second day today as incessent rain has been keeping all the rivers of Nagaon district constantly in spate. The major rivers of Nagaon district Kolong , Kapilee and Barpanee are flowing above danger level. Kampur-Nagaon ASTC service flagged off

Raha, Nagaon: Assam State Transport Corporation(ASTC) bus service from Kampur to Nagaon via Kampur-Raha route was flagged off on August 30 by the divisional superintendent, Apurba Barkakati of ASTC amidst cheers of the local citizens. A meeting was held on the occasion under the presidentship of Bibhuti Bhusan Borthakur, State NSUI president, attended by a number of prominent personalities of Kampur, besides ASTC officials and local people.It should be mentioned here that this service has been demanded by the people of Kampur for a long time.

States first record room to be set up in Nagaon

Raha: The State Forest Minister Rokibull Hussain has at last shown interest to set up the state's first Record Room in Nagaon where all officials and non-officials records of Nagaon district will be preserved in a scientific way. In a recent meeting held at Nagaon Circuit House under the presidentship of RokibullHussain, it has been decided to complete the preservation works within one year.
