Let up in Guwahati waterlogging

Rain waters start receding in Guwahati on Wednesday twenty four hours after heavydownpour wreaked huge havoc in the premier north eastern city where two persons were killed.

Barring the low lying areas, there is marginal let up in the situation in the points where rainwaters have disappeared on Wednesday morning.

The situation improved because of let up in the rains apart from the initiatives to pump out the disrupting rain waters which submerged almost 60% of the capital state.

GD Road is cleared of the waters while the RG Barua Road will be clear towards the evening. But if fresh rains lash the city, it would be another nightmare.

The district administration has asked the school authorities not to remain opened on Wednesday in view of the flood situation.

A joint group of GMC, GMDA and district administration has been fanning in the worst-hit areas to ensure rescue operation deploying SDRF while top administrative officers in Dispur have been monitoring the situation to apprise it to the chief minister.
