Private schools shine in Tangla
The private sector schools of Tangla perfomed better in the HSLC 2017 examination declared on Wednesday. Auxilum Convent Tangla seems to have gained its lost glory as 27 out of 28 students secured first divisions with 4 students securing distinction and 5 securing star marks. Chancal Dhar of the school secured state highest 100 marks in English informed Sister Mary Joseph Principal of Auxilum Convent ,Tangla. Meanwhile Arunodoi Academy another private school also performed really well. Chakidipta Baruah was the district topper securing 94.5% and state highest 100 marks in English. She is the daughter of Dulal Baruah and Binita Sarania. Rupah Anand Hazarika of the same school also secured state highest 100 marks in Advance Mathematics. He is the son of Dithakananda Hazarika and Anjali Devi Hazarika. Out of 59 students of the academy 30 secured first division,six distinction marks and seven star marks. Talking to The Sentinel Napolean Daimari the Principal of Arunodoi Academy said that," We were quite ignorant that this time the positions were reduced to 10 in HSLC instead of 20 like previous year. The education department should have notified the institutions regarding their stance on number of position holders ." The people of the town have hailed the good performance of the school. The government schools both Tangla HS school and Tangla Girls HS school performed abysmally low in terms of pass percentage.

UDALGURI: A local court in Paneri sent to youths to jail on Wednesday a day after the duo allegedly molested two College girls. In the first incident, two thieves lifted a bag containing cash amount of Rs.36,000 from the LIC Satellite Office of Harisinga area in Udaguri which belonged to Narayan Das. TANGLA:Over loaded dumpers carrying construction materials, of late, have started unleashing a huge havoc on the Mangaldai-Bhutiachang SH-4 these days. A couple of lives has already lost. More such incidents are in store if this havoc us not properly done away with. TANGLA: The teachers and students of Tangla College bad farewell to teacher Jayanta Kr. Chakravarty on his retirement on Wednesday. In his farewell address he advised the students to trace out the positive aspects and hone their skills theirby channelizing their mind to pursue subjects where one is passionate. Prof. Chakravarty, the prolific writer started his literary activities as an essayist, a translator and then a sucessfull short story writer in Assamese who received Katha Award for Creative Fiction (1997), Eka Ebong Koekjon Sahitya Sangskriti Sanman (2001) among other awards.
