The member-journalists of Guwahati Press Club on Thursday (25 May) remembered soft-spoken journalist Mithu Choudhury, who died last week after suffering from various ailments. Choudhury , 53, lately used to contribute for various news portals and his focus area was insurgency in northeast India. The speakers of the memorial meeting described Choudhury as an honest and dedicated journalist. They also appreciated Choudhury’s commitment to the medium for which he had to sacrifices a lot. Till his untimely death, Choudhury maintained his identity as a working journalist based in the city. The participants also observed one-minute silence to pay respect to the departed soul. They also contributed financial assistances to his family.
The meeting was addressed by senior journalists Rupam Barua, Ranen Kumar Goswami, Nava Thakuria, DN Singh, Prasanta Majumder, Dilip Sarma, Peter Alex, Arindam Roy, Dixit Sarma, Beauty Barman, Azlina Khanam, Sanjay Roy, Sanjoy Das, Bhaskarjyoti Das, Diganta Das, Dhiraj Deka etc.
