Dreaded Garo rebel surrenders

A hardcore GNLA rebel laid down his arms before BSF in Meghalaya on Friday giving the security forces a sigh of relief. According to BSF, identified as Marus Ch Sangma, who was trained up outside surrendered before thr authorities in presence of Sankatha Prasad, the Commandant 20 Bn BSF at Tura in the evening.

The 26 year old local resident of Telekhali in Gasuapara, near Baghmara which falls under South Garo Hills district confessed to have joined ANVC-B in 2012 before undergoing  three months arms training in Bangladesh.

During this period, he learnt handling of various weapons like Carbine, AK Series and Pistol and explosives. When ANVC-B surrendered en masse three years back. He joined GNLA and closely worked with Bade Ch Marak and Kartush.

 He confessed yo have received arms consignment, accessories and camouflaged dress from Bangladeshi national Dipon R Marak and Philip and delivered the consignments to GNLA cadres in forested areas of villages Telikhali and Jankhol in South Garo Hill district.
