Radio Discussion on Farmer Producer Company

All India Radio, Guwahati will broadcast a radio discussion about Farmer Producer Company ( FPC ) in Assamese, on 25th April next from 7.15pm in the 'Krishi Jagat' programme. Mowsam Hazarika, Assistant Director ( Horticulture) , Directorate of Horticulture and Food Processing, Assam ; Dr Sarat Saikia, Chief Scientist, Horticultural Research Station, AAU and Bakul Chandra Saikia, Senior Agricultural Development Officer, Directorate of Horticulture and Food Processing, Assam & Nodal Officer , FPC will take part in the discussion. 

It may be mentioned that, AIR , Guwahati will broadcast such discussion for the first time . It will be helpful for the farmers of Assam, who are willing to improve their bargaining strength in the market. It is hope that, FPC  may initiate new era in Assam Agriculture .

The Union Cabinet has approved the Interest Subvention Scheme (ISS) for farmers for the year 2017-18 to help farmers get short term crop loan up to Rs. 3 lakh payable within one year at only 4% per annum. The Government has earmarked a sum of Rs. 20,339 crore for this purpose. The interest subvention will be given to Public Sector Banks (PSBs), Private Sector Banks, Cooperative Banks and Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) on use of own funds and to NABARD for refinance to RRBs and Cooperative Banks. Crijaf Sona, a microbial formulation powder used for retting jute fibres, was launched in Guwahati on Monday. The microbial formulation, developed by the Central Research Institute for Jute and Allied Fibres (CRIJAF), under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, is expected to increase the income of farmers.
