Joy of Rongali Bihu on

Assam continues to erupts in joy of Rongali Bihu on the second day of the much vaunted spring festival reviving the hopes of a bounteous crops this year.

Sounds of drumbeats and cymbals, flute, bamboo made instruments accompanied by song and dance have given the north eastern a different look.

Dressed with traditional attire, boys and girls have started performing door to door Bihu huchori while cultural functions are lined up in the nook and corner of the state during the week long festival.

Temples across the state are teeming with visitors and devotees seeking divine help for the new year Assamese year which begins on Saturday.

“ I got up early in the morning and with have visited the Shiv Temple to offer puja to the God seeking His help for sustainable peace across the globe,” said Dipti Bhuyan, a college student in Jagiroad who visited the Deosal temple beside the National Highway No 37.

Guwahati alone has 45 bihu functions this year where many performing artists have confirmed their participation. Many Bihu celebration committees have organized Huchori competitions, quiz competitions to mark the occasion.

Ayush healthcare system to train rural youths

The Ministry of Ayush and the Ministry of Rural Development have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop skilled manpower for the Ayush healthcare system. The agreement aims to enable rural youth to become a skilled workforce in the sector.
