Two people were charred to death when a gas tanker caught fire after hitting a tree in Nagaon district of Assam on Wednesday.
The incident took place at Baghjan area in Koliabor where a Guwahati bound gas tanker hit a huge tree on the roadside resulting in a huge inferno where the truck driver and his associate were burnt alive.
Immediately the inferno spread to the nearby houses and within an hour three houses were reduced to ashes. Fire tenders arrived in the spot. But by then fire engulfed the three houses.
The incident took place four months after five people were burnt alive by a huge inferno in Rangoliting area in Golaghat after a gas tanker met with a mishap.

One more Assam Rifles jawan succumed to injuries in Sunday’s rebel attack in Tinsukia district. He was declared dead on Sunday night 12 hours after he was rushed to the hospital. Rifles jawans died when ULFA-I and NSCN-K rebel jointly ambushed the vehicles of the para military forces in Tinsukia district on Sunday. The incident took place near Jagun area bordering Arunachal Pradesh where the Assam Rifles jawans were escorting a team of foreign tourists who attended a winter festival. As the convoy reach Jagun, rebels lobbed grenade at the security forces and started indiscriminate firing from the jungle. The injured jawans were rushed to the hospital where the duo succumbed to injuries.
