Polling ends, eyes on Mar 11

Amid unprecedented security measures, the second and final phase of assembly polling ended in Manipur on Wednesday with huge turn out which might touch the 85 per cent mark.

Barring a few stray incidents, the polling at 1151 covering 22 constituencies were by and large peaceful where the people on large number exercised their franchise to decide on the fate of 98 candidates who include Okram Ibobi Singh and rights crusader Irom Sharmila.

Both they are directly pitted against each other in Thoubal constituency.

Voting began at 7in the morning where electorates in large number made huge queue in front of the booths to exercise their franchise.
