The Assam government has instituted a probe into the alleged distortion of satriya dance in the Republic Day parade in New Delhi on Thursday.
Assam cultural department secretary P K Saikia will probe the allegation against a New Delhi based school for displaying the satriya dance in the Republic Day parade ground which runs into a hail of criticism.
The government has made it simple that the performance was not in its knowledge prior to its display in the Vijay Chowk. But the school authority called it a fusion of the satriya dance and a form of traditional Assamese devotional song.
Many experts from the state have found fault with the dance format and the attire they had in the performance on the Kamakhya-shaped tabuleax.
