Hayat Hospital conducts GPC clinic

Physicians from the city based Hayat Hospital conducted the Saturday evening OPD at Guwahati Press Club (GPC) on 7 January. Dr Anjan Saikia (Gastroenterology), Dr Daboo Patowari (Internal Medicine) and Dr Abhisek Lohia (Dermatology) offered free consultations after checking their blood pressure & sugar. Over 35 participants joined in the evening clinic.

Hayat Hospital has also announced various concessions in treatment for press club members along with their families. Paragjyoti Dutta, assistant general manager of the hospital informed that they would get special discount on OPD/Doctor Consultation Charges (100%), Room Rent (25%), Lab Investigation (20%), CT/USG/X-Ray (20%), MRI/MR Angiography (20%), EEG, ECG,TMT, HOLTER, ECHO (20%), Colonoscopy & Endoscopy (20%), Operation Theatre Charges (10%) and Medicine (5%).

Next GPC evening clinic will be conducted by Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya Guwahati on 21 January. The eye camp at press club premises will begin at 4 pm and continue till 6 pm. The 14 January camp has been cancelled due to Magh Bihu celebrations.

Till date, practicing physicians from Dispur Hospitals, Down Town Hospitals, GNRC Group of Hospitals, Narayana Super-Specialty Hospitals, Swagat Super-Surgical Institute, Wintrobe Hospital, Nemcare Hospital, Sun Valley Hospital, Sight First eye-clinic, Government Ayurvedic College, Barthakur Clinic, Apollo Hospitals Chennai etc had conducted weekly camps.

Similarly, Medanta-The Medicity Hospital Gurgaon, Gauhati Medical College, GMC Panbazar campus, Apollo Hospitals Hyderabad, Rahman Hospital etc have shown interest in conducting the camps titled ‘Evening with a Doctor’ in the coming days.

Rhino poaching seems to have recurred in Kaziranga. A female rhinoceros was found dead with gunshot wounds and its horn removed in the Kaziranga National Park on Friday.The horn is off from the carcass near Dhanbari camp under Agratoli range by forest guards, taking the total number of the pachyderms killed this year to 25. Three bullet injuries were spotted on the carcass and three used cartridges of an AK-47 rifle were found from the spot.
A book based on a screenplay of an unfinished cinema by late Mrinalkanti Das titled Oronyot Boroxun (Rain in the Forest) released at a function at Guwahati Press Club on the Friday. Noted writer Apurba Sarma formally relased the book.Long back in 2004, cinematographer-director Mrinalkanti Das planned to make a feature film. But he met with an accident while going for location hunt. He expired in that accident and his dream debut film as director remained unfinished. In what can be termed as a welcome news for the Assamese film industry, “Mayong: Myth/Reality”, directed by Utpal Borpujari and produced by Jayanta Goswami, will be archived by the Royal Anthropological Institute (RAI) of Great Britain and Ireland so that researchers and academicians associated with cultural ethnography studies can access the documentary.A communication to this effect has been sent to Borpujari by Susanne Hammacher, film officer with the RAI. “We will take the film up to Edinburgh and it will be available in the video library and for any future visitors at the RAI for consultation,” she informed Borpujari. Another Assam youth Manish Kumar Deka is likely to climb the great mountain on Sunday. The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council is all set to announce the HS results in all streams on Monday. The results would be available for all at 10 in the morning. Students can view the results through online websites on the mentioned date, for the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) which conducted the examination in the month of March 2013. Properties worth twenty lakhs were reduced to ashes when a devastating fire broke out at a car workshop in Dibrugarh district on Sunday.The fire took place at Laipuli early in the morning due to electric short circuit which later engulfed the entire workshop. Police took several hours to bring the situation under control. The real extent of damage is yet to be ascertained.
