Seminar on rights

Peoples Organization for Social Transformation (POST) had organized a one day seminar on rights at the Asel L P School at Mahur in N C hills District on 5th August. The seminar was to sensitize people around the Mahur area on various social issues and individual rights. Ranjan K Baruah, youth activist from Guwahati was the resource person in the seminar who spoke on right to food and right to work with special emphasize on PDS NREGA, ICDS, etc. The seminar was moderated by P. Thaku Hmar of POST. POST was established in the year 2007 to work in Mahur area which is not well connected with other parts of the state due to poor communication. More than 100 individual including village headman, teachers, farmers, youth leaders had participated in the seminar and discussed the local issues which are affecting the area. POST has decided to organize Mahur Social Summit later this year for social awareness in the Mahur Development Block.

Nice to see this news item, as we dont see anything from Mahur. as I am from that place I know that there no correspondent from any newspaper. We don't read news from Mahur.

Tinsukia DC takes action against errant officials

Tinsukia: The Deputy Commissioner of Tinsukia, Dr P K Trivedi made a surprise visit to several offices falling within his jurisdiction and the result was that pay cuts were ordered for 84 employees in these offices for not coming to office on time. Fiserv India Targets 5,000 Headcount

Fiserv Inc, which provides information technology services to the financial services industry, is all set to move to destination India. Speaking to the media , Dr Arun Maheshwari, President, Fiserv Global Services Group, said the company has already made its presence felt by opening up centres in Noida. Currently, there are three locations in Noida with about 1,100 personnel on its rolls. Loan brings succor to Assam tea

Guwahati: A fresh lease of life awaits Assam’s tea industry. Altogether 24 companies have come out to revive the ailing sector with a huge Rs 48 crore loan money.These companies will devote the fund, named as the Special Tea Purpose Fund, in the replantation of bushes in 82 tea estates covering 1,925 hectares.The Assam tea Company is among those who are a part of this pact. Tragic Train Mishap: 12 killed, 4 injured

Guwahati: Altogether 12 people died and 7 others injured when two locomotives and seven loaded wagons of the Bardarpur-bound Dn FCI Bhim goods train fell off bridge No. 108, 52 km from Lumding on Monday morning.According to Northeast Frontier Railway officials, the loco pilot (driver) of the ill-fated train, Deepak Sen, and six trackmen working at the site died on the spot, while six others died on the way to the hospital.Seven others, including MK Rajak, the assistant loco pilot, were injured.
