Wild loner ransacks school building

Wild elephants went into a rampage on Monday night in the Indo-Bhutan border area of Udalguri.

Reportedly the building of Attarekhat ME school was ransacked by a loner of jumbo. The kitchen room and office has completely demolished as a result. The school which was provincialized in 2013 has suffered atleast six attacks of wild jumbo.

The wild loner also demolished the rickety hut of a poverty striken old women Bishnu Maya Khoyel. She is running helpless with her only specially disabled son.

Eyewitnesses told the correspondent that the herd of wild elephants usually come to the locality at any time right after sunset up to midnight.

"We are always living under great threat and danger of wild elephants every night," said Sumitra Deka.

"You never know when they will come and destroy houses and crops. You may run into them even in the dark of night!" the eyewitness said. The inadequate number of forest personals who turn dead ear to villagers woes to chase away the herds has added to the woes of the villagers. The locals have sought the intervention of education minister for the construction of the demolished school building for the sake of the students future.
