Dissidence in AGP

All is unwell in the Asom Gana Parishad if the prevailing scenario inside the regional party is any indication.  The main coalition partner of the BJP-led government in Dispur is heading for a vertical split with s very short spell of time.

The dissidence against the sitting president Atul Bora seems to have growing following his stoic silence on a number of issues where AGP refuses to buy BJP.

he split within the party came to light after the NDA government at the Centre moved a motion in parliament to amend the Constitution to roll out red carpet to the Hindu people from the neighbouring countries.

Initially, Bora kept mum on the issue. Never did the president Bora opposed it openly and nor he convened a meeting of his party to discuss the issue where Assam would be an open abode of the Bangladeshi immigrants to get the refugee status.

Former chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta is dead opposed to the move. But he alone cant do much in the absence of the president Bora who is enjoying cabinet berth in the Sarbananda Sonowal’s council of ministers.

According to Mahanta and his camp never the Sonoeal government discussed anything before taking a major decision which is anti people. Fed up with this schemes of things, MAHANTA has been in touch with the Left veterans for further course of action. But Bora had yet to moves against the NDA’s move on refugee status to the Bangladeshi immigrants.
