CorCom, ULFA [I] behind Chandel attack

Constituent members of United National Liberation Front of WESEA (UNLFW), Coordination Committee (CorCom) and United Liberation Front of Asom [ULFA-Independent] Saturday jointly embarked upon its second military assault code named “Operation: BARAK” against Indian armed forces.


Following this the 252nd battalion of PLA attacked the 21st Para Regiment of Indian Army between Aisi and Khunmulen, Sajik Tampak at Chandel District in Manipur at 9:50 hours IST in which about 5 personnel of the regiment sustained serious injuries.


The Joint Command of the assault, MM Ngouba Chairman, Joint Military Commission (JMC) of CorCom and Major-General Paresh Asom the Vice Chairman cum Chief of Army Staff of [ULFA-I] claiming responsibility for the assault in a communiqué said, “We express our gratitude to the soldier for their bravery in action against Indian Army, Commander of Joint Tactical Operations Centre (JTOC) for this successful operation and the fraternal organisations of WESEA and the people of Manipur for their kind help.”
