Humanity award for Aruna Roy
Noted social activist Aruna Roy will receive the prestigious Upendra Nath Brahma Soldier of Humanity Award 2016. The Jury Board of the Upendra Nath Brahma Trust (UNBT) headed by Dr. Anil Boro, Associate Professor, Gauhati University finalized Roy for the award to be given away at a function in Rabindra Bhawan in
Guwahati on August 26.
Roy, a social activist is the co-founder of the Mazdoor Kisan Shakti Sangathana (MKSS), a social and grassroots organization for the empowerment of workers and peasants. It is a major civil rights movement in India and played a crucial role in the establishment of the Right to Information Act (RTI). She is also served as a civil servant in the Indian Administrative Service before deciding to dedicate herself fully to social and political campaigns.

Security apprehended have claimed to arrest three cadres of National Santhali Liberation Army(NSLA) anti-talk faction at Barabil under Gossaigaon police station in Kokrajhar today. Getting a tiptop information about presence of the militant cadres in the area, a joint team of security forces belonging to army, police in the Barabil area under Gossaigaon police station and managed to arrest the militant cadres. An employee of MRM hospital, identified as Harimahan Narzary,32; died on the spot hit by vehicle late last evening at Debargaon under Kokrajhar police station.
