Adya shraddha of Mintu Deuri held
The adya shraddha of Mintu Deuri, who was killed in police firing while protesting shifting of the proposed AIIMS from Raha to Changsari, at Raha chariali on July 15 was held at Mahendra Nath Hazarika memorial hall premises here today under the initiative of Raha Anchalik Chatra Santha , AJYCP Raha unit, All Tiwa Students' Union ( ATSU ) , and MASS Raha unit.
On this occasion a memorial meeting was also held. In the meeting Hirannya Narayan Bora, president , AIIMS Demand Committee , Anup Chetia, Ex General Secretary ULFA , Journalist Biren Bhatta, and Mani Madhav Mahanta , vice-president AASU narrated briefly about Mintu deuri's great death. The speakers also came down heavily on the government for using armed police forces on the agitators who demanded AIIMS at Raha on the day.
Earlier to the meeting an all religious prayer meet was held where people from all walks of life and religions took part in. The other programmes were smriti tarpan, naam prasanga, kirtan path and banti prajyalwan.

An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of Raha police station committed suicide by shooting himself at his official residence on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Subhash Gogoi posted at Raha police station in May 21,2015. The body of the 45-year-old assistant sub-inspector was found lying in a pool of blood on his bed at around 12.10 pm. Marred by a slew of untoward incidents, the 12 hour central Assam bandh concluded on Monday evening called by 8 organizations demanding the proposed AIIMS in Raha. The untoward incident took place when a section of bandh supporters tried to enforce bandh call by pelting stones and water bottles at some vehicles on the National Highway No 37 in Raha. Two persons were injured when suspected militants lobbed a grenade on a hardware shop named Khatuwala hardware at Raha chariali on National Highway 37 on Tuesday evening police said. The suspected ultras hurled a grenade on the shop at 6.45 p.m, police said. Police said the grenade missed the intended target and exploded on the entrance of the shop causing splinter injuries to two laboures of the shop. Ram Madhav, National General Secretary, BJP and Ajay Jamwal, General Secretary, BJP for NE states today visited Raha to take stock of the security scene ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled visit to Raha on April 8. Both the leaders were welcomed by Raha BJP nominated candidate Dimbeswar Das and Raha town committee chairman Dhruba Das. The Nagaon BJP MP Rajen Gohain also accompanied them.
