BPL widows gets CIC sheets

Altogether 35 BPL widows of greater Karigaon area were given away income generating livestock cow and CIC sheet with coinciding celebration of Interntaional Widow Day at Moslapara village in Kokrajhar district on Thursday.

The day was celebrated by Believers Church Bongaigaon Diocese,which has been come out to help the poor widows live in Moslapara,Jitpur,Haldibari,No.2 Bashbari extremely north of Karigaon. Twelve widows was given away one-each income generating livestock cow while 23 windows was given away four bundle each CIC sheet at a ceremonial distribution programme to mark the celebration.

Madhav Prasad Sarma,Kokrajhar DC graced as chief guest and distributed the materials among beneficiaries. Sarma,in his speech appreciated the initiative taken from Believers Church to facilitate income generating and to erect houses in rural areas.

‘It is an appreciated venture initiated from church to extend help in income generating by giving cow and CIC sheet to erect houses among rural widows in the area.This kind of facility providing among society would be benefitted to gain social integration and social development’, Sarma said.

Rev.Fr. Ajay Tulsiary,vicar general,Bongaigaon said that this is an initiative to facilitate poor widows,who are living under risk of starving in the rural areas.The church was working for the uplift of social unity and development in the region.

‘The church ditributed cow and CIC sheets among widows at Moslapara area who are far worse than the normal women.We have been celebrating the the day with honoring of wodows in the region as well across the world’.

Umarani Basumatary,social worker,Kanan Basumatary,principal Debargaon HS School were also present on the occasion.

The Believers Church is doing wonderful works in the society uplifting the poorest of the poor bringing joy and smile to their faces to those destitute widows who are in great need, I do really appreciate for their sacrificial service towards humanity

At least two persons, including an Army officer and a civilian received bullet injuries following indiscriminate firing by suspected militants late Thursday evening at Oxiguri Raimona area in Gossaigaon sub division of Kokrajhar district.
