Senior painter Benu Misra and artisan-photographer Labu Senapati have joined in a mission to showcase their works once again in the city. A three-day exhibition of drawing-painting, bonsai and wood-works has been organized at Surjya Club (CK Agarwalla Road, Guwahati-781001) which will kick-off on 2 July 2016. The show is scheduled to be inaugurated by eminent folklorist Dr Birendranath Dutta.
Around 30 drawing & graphics created by Misra, who is recognized as one of the finest, most adored and formidable expressionist Assamese painters of our time, will be on display. On the other hand, over 40 bonsai items comprising Ficus Ramphii, Ficus Benjamina, Scheflerra Arbocolla, Juniper etc, nurtured by Senapati for decades will be displayed in the exhibition.
A man of varied interests, a professional photographer and landscaping & exhibition designer, Senapati can take it pride of preserving the largest collection of bonsais, some of those are over 50 years old, in northeast India.
Nearly two decades back, both the creative genius of Assam mounted a joint exhibition in the city, where Misra’s splendid paintings and Senapati’s bonsais were showcased. This time Senapati plans to add few interesting wood-works to the show.
