Pre-World Environment Day celebrated at Ri-bhoi

On the occasion of World Environment Day 2016, MOSONiE (Common Wealth) Foundation distributed  and planted 800 fruit saplings in 5 far flung villages namely Umlathu, Jolysiem, Timbogre, Upper Jorbil and Pillangkata of Ri-Bhoi District in Meghalaya on Friday. With the theme "Create Recreate and Rejuvenate the Available Resources" this happens to be the first ever celebration in this area.

A cleaning drive and awareness programme on the importance of healthy and green environment was also organised in these villages . The MOSONiE team also deliberated on how the fruit trees can generate resources in the future if they are given proper care. To encourage the villagers, the organization had also declared that award will be given to the best care taker of the fruit trees in the next coming World Environment Day.

The event was supported by ICAR Umiam, The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) NERC, BSNL Shillong and SBI Khanapara Branch.
