AAJU demands 1000 crore package for KNP

The All Assam Journalist Union in its executive meeting held at Kaziranga Convention Centre expresses its worries over the increased activities of poachers in the Kaziranga National Park. Apart from poaching, the massive erosion caused by Brahmaputra and the encroachments made by suspected Bangladeshi immigrants are worth mentioning. Therefore the AAJU in its Executive Meeting held on 13th July demands a Rs. 1000 crore package from the Govt. of India in order to equip the forest guards with state of the art arms and ammunition to combat poachers and also to improve the infrastructure of the park. It was also decided in the meeting to send a delegation to New Delhi in this regard. In another decision AAJU condemns the boycott of journalists by Dibrugarh Medical College and decided to wear black badge on 15th July in protest.
