Two Assamese books were released in a glittering function held at a city hall on 15 May 2016, where audience from different walks of life graced the occasion.
The chief editor of Niyamia Barta, an Assamese daily, and also a celebratedwriter Phanindra Kumar Debchoudhury, a motivation worker Dr Minati Barthakur and journalist Nava Thakuria officially released both the books.
Published by Maram Kumar on behalf of Maramland, the first book tiled Kalam is a collection of various articles. The author of the book is Dr Birendra Nath Patgiri, who is a dentist by profession and social worker turned writer by passion.
The second book is a translated piece titled Maadhukari Geetanjali, where nonagenarian Sunanda Patgiri took the pain to go for translation. He was also present on the occasion to bless everyone there.

A gang of miscreants raped a girl before mercilessly killing her in Karbi Anglong sending huge shockwaves and anger across the state on Friday. The bizarre but brutal incident took place in Baithalangsu in the hills district on Thursday night and the lifeless girl was spotted near the road on Friday morning. Three Cotton College students have been remaining traceless for the last 24 hours striking no less sensation in the premier seat of learning in the north eastern region. Identified as Wahidur Rahman, Tonmoy Kathar and Partha Mali, the higher secondary students suddenly vanished from the college campus on Thursday. Armed robbers in the heart of Guwahati city whisked away diamond, gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 21 crore at gun point on Tuesday evening. According to the eyewitnesses, a gang of robbers armed with sophisticated weapons' started blankfiring as soon as they arrived in the MP Jwellery premises in the GS Road at 7 in the evening.
