'Bwisagu is a national festival of Bodos, it should be kept alive with its cultural tradition', said Kampa Borgoyary, BTC deputy chief. Borgoyary, while inaugurating the Bwisagu festival celebration jointly organized by 16th Kokrajhar Rongjali Bwisagu celebration committee and 13th Bineswar Brahma memorial Rongjali Bwisagu celebration committee held at Habrubari in Kokrajhar on Friday said that the Bwisagu is regarded as heart and soul of Bodos. The Bwisagu festival has been celebrated since immemorial of times with traditional Kham, siphung, jotha and enjoying hearty season among society during Bwisag month, he said.
Borgoyary has urged Bodo society to celebrate the Bwisagu festival and keep alive so that traditional Bodo cultural value and integration could be sustained. A Bwisagi Khungri dance and singing competition was organized in the festival where over 20 participants from different parts participated and presented their dancing talents. The Bwisagu festival has been organized with two day programme scheduled, which has began from today . Women's dance group from Habrubari, Bwisagu groups presented dancing showcase in the festival which had created amusement among participant and audience.
BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary will attend as chief guest on the cultural night tomorrow of the festival. BTC executive members Rajib Brahma, Doneswar Goyary will grace as guests on the prize distribution function tomorrow. Sahitya Academy awarded and former president of Bodo sahitya sabha Brajendra Kumar Brahma, noted writer Saradha Prasad Moshahary among others were prominent attendees on the first day function.
