Indo-Bhutan border sealed for election

The Indo-Bhutan border has been sealed to the smooth conducting of second phase Assam assembly polls, of which all necessary stage is set on Monday when people in 61 Legislative Assembly Constituencies (LACs) spread across the middle Assam,lower Assam districts, including Bodoland region will cast their votes.

 All kinds of arrangements including security personnels have so far completed to the second phase elections in several districts in middle and lower Assam,included Bodoland region.The polling personnel,security personnels along with vehicle moved to the polling centre since early morning today to conduct the polls that to be held on Monday.

Madhav Prasad Sarma,Kokrajhar Deputy Commissioner and Election Officer told that district administrations in lower Assam districts have promulgated 144 CrPC,besides sealing of Indo-Bhutan border to the greater interest of conducting free and fair  in the region.The northern part of the some lower Assam districts have been put under strong covered up of security arrangement during the polls to thwart unwanted situations,polling personnels have moved to their destination of polling stations along with required poll related materials.

A total of 1,04,35,277 voters will seal the fate of 525 candidates – 48 of those being women – in the second phase of polls.

The ruling Congress has fielded 57 candidates, the AIUDF fielded 47, followed by the BJP with 35. The AGP has 19 candidates, followed by the BPF (10), CPM (9) and CPI (5). Also in the fray are 214 Independent candidates and 129 from other parties. The break-up of voters is 53,91,204 males and 50,44,051 females. 

Among the heavyweight candidates in the fray are Prafulla Kumar Mahanta (AGP), Himanta Biswa Sarma (BJP), Phani Bhusan Choudhury (AGP), Rakibul Hussain (Congress), Atul Bora (BJP), Badruddin Ajmal (AIUDF), Akon Bora (Congress), Pramila Rani Brahma (BPF), Chandan Brahma (BPF),Rabiram Narzary(BPF), Ananta Deka (CPM) and Urkhao Gwra Brahma(UPP).

Madhav Prasad Sarma,DC Kokrajhar said that district administration has completed its preparations to host the assembly polls on Monday in free and fair manner all over the region.The polling personnel moved to their respective centre. The Indo-Bhutan border area have also sealed and 144 CrPC promulgated in the state,besides taking stern step against militant outfit organisation, he said. 

'There is no any perception of militancy activity in the region and we hope the polls would be passed of peaceful and integration without any noise', Sarma said.     

 BH Das and Goneswar Basumatary,polling personel said, 'We are happy having involved with polling personnel,we are leaving for the poll centre to conduct the election in the region'. Participation in the election is very much required for the democratic citizen of India coumtry.We must participate the polls to elect public representative among society, they said.

Security forces from police and army apprehended a Kamatapur Liberation Organization (KLO) from Maktaigaon area on Friday under Gossaigaon PS in Kokrajhar district,  Identified as Ranjay Barman of Maktaigaon.
