Bodoland Movement Day observed

The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) remembering the Bodoland separate statehood demand agitation, observed 29th Bodoland Movement Day on Wednesday at Borlaogaon in Chirang district. 

The observation was organized centrally by ABSU in association with Bijni anchalik committee ABSU where thousands of common public and students thronged. 

The students union started it's mass movement demanding separate Bodoland statehood on March 1987 under the bold leadership of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, the then president of ABSU and since then the students union every year has been observing the day as Bodoland movement day to mark the day. 

An open session was organized on the day to mark the observation. 

Pramod Boro, president of the ABSU while attending the observation said that the student union and common masses of Bodoland region have been demanding separate Bodoland statehood to meet good governance and healthy living. He has urged the government to take stern step to create new small states including Bodoland through political dialogue across the country to pave way healthy administration in the country.

Dhiren Boro, president of NDFB (P), Santash Kaklary, president Bijni district Bodo sahitya sabha were prominent speakers on the day.

Milkmen killed in Kokrajhar

Suspected NDFB-S militants killed to milkmen in Kokrajhar district a day before the third and final phase of the Lok Sabha polls on Thursday.The incident took place at 11 in the morning at Bhogjhora area near Kazigaon where the motorcycle born militants shot dead Sahadut Ali and Mizanur Rahman from a close range on the road.The milkmen duo who were distributing milk died on the spot. Then the militants managed to flee from the spot. Top civil and police officials arrived in the spot and asked the local police station to find out the culprits.     

Dilemma for Bodo voters

Many voters in Bodo belts are likely to face hardship in reading the name of the candidates when they come to exercise their franchise on April 24 in the third phase election in the state. One shot at in Kokrajhar

A person identified as Faijal Ali of Chengnala was shot at by unidentified armed miscreants this morning around 8.30 am under Dotma police station in Kokrajhar.According to villagers of the Chengnala armed unidentified miscreants fired Ali this morning at his home when he was taking morning breakfast and received bullet injury on his mouth. He was immediately rushed to Kokrajhar Rup Nath Brahma civil Hospital.Ali was supporter of Independent candidate Urkhao Gwra Brahma to the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency.
