School building inagurated

The new school building of Arunodoi Academy school, one of the pioneering educational institutions of Tangla was inagurated by Jagadish Sarkar EM BTC on Wednesday. The school which was established in 2006 had been successful in attaining cent percent marks in HSLC examinations. The inauguration programme was also attended by senior journalists Jayanta Kumar Das and Bhargab Kumar Das besides other.

Udalguri joined the death anniversary celebration of the  first tea planter and martyr Maniram Dewan with a three day long commemorative event which concluded on Monday. The main event took place at Rajagarh Swahid Adarsha ME school playground along the Indo-Bhutan border  organized under the aegis of of Rajagarh Jatiya Jagaran Aikhyo Mancha. TANGLA:Over loaded dumpers carrying construction materials, of late, have started unleashing a huge havoc on the Mangaldai-Bhutiachang SH-4 these days. A couple of lives has already lost. More such incidents are in store if this havoc us not properly done away with. From morning to evening these dumpers keep plying on this busy road causing immense inconvenience for the school and college goers who normally go on foot. Policemen keep patrolling on the road, forest officials keep sitting in the gates. But none of them check these dumpers to ascertain the validity of stones, timber and sands. TANGLA: The teachers and students of Tangla College bad farewell to teacher  Jayanta Kr. Chakravarty  on his retirement on Wednesday. In his farewell address he advised the students to trace out the positive aspects and hone their skills theirby channelizing their mind to pursue subjects where one is passionate.     Prof. Chakravarty, the prolific writer started his literary activities as an essayist,  a translator and then a sucessfull short story writer in Assamese who received Katha Award for Creative Fiction (1997), Eka Ebong Koekjon Sahitya Sangskriti Sanman (2001) among other awards. 
UDALGURI: The Udalguri district committee of All Koch-Rajbongshi Students’ Union (AKRSU) is preparing to enforce a 24 hour long Udalguri district bandh on February 15 alleging failure of BTAD administration to keep its promises. Talking to reporters, Aranya Deka, A Saikia and B. Rajbongshi, alleged that despite full support to the ruling BPF in the last BTC elections, the BTC authority did not fulfill its assurance to construct a students’ hostel for the community at Udalguri and intentionally directed to construct it outside Udalguri town area.The decision was taken at a district unit meeting of AKRSU, where the leaders criticized the present role of the BTC authority in the region.
TANGLA: Don Basumatary and Pankaraj Deuri emerged champion in mens double category in the 5th edition of the Prize Money Open Badminton Tournament which at Tangla Badminton Association Indoor stadium on Sunday night. Altogether 121 shuttlers from various parts of the country participated in the event where the champions received Rs. 15,000 while Amit Saha and Irengbam Yaitomba bagged runners up trophy along with cash prize of Rs.8,000.     B.K Pegu and Prasanna Taye emerged champion in veteran mens double category while Someswar Bhuyan and  Bale Basumatari bagged runners up along with cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and 5000 respectively.

UDALGURI: The Sikh community of Udalguri and Darrang celebrated the 350th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Gobind Singh with religious fervour at Tangla in Udalguri on Friday. They celebrated the occasion at the Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha. Sikh devotees, including women and children, from different parts of the district gathered at the Gurudwara since morning and offered their prayers.Devotees read out the scriptures of Sukhmani Sahib and recited kirtan, which spread the messages of love and harmony among the people. Devotees also participated in Langar (community feasting) on the ocassion.
UDALGURI: The Gorkha students in BTAD areas are not at all happy with BTC. The council has been running without anybody to represent them. This was what the All Assam Gorkha Students' Union has written to Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi who has assured them of steps to address the concern.  In the memorandum to Mukhi, the student organization deplored that even after three years BTC has not nominated even a single Gorkha person to represent them against the provision of six persosn.  The three member delegation who called on the Governor at the Raj Bhawan urged him to take steps to ensure land pattas to the Gorkha people in the BTAD areas.
