Padmashri award to Dr Kameswar Brahma

It is a good news that noted writer of Bodo and President of Bodo Sahitya Sabha Dr Kameswar Brahma has been named for Padmashri award, a prestigious national recognized award was announced on the eve of 67th Republic Day celebration of India on Monday.  

Dr Brahma, former principal of Gossaigaon College of Kokrajhar district and educationist, noted writer of Bodo literary and present president of the Bodo Sahitya Sabha has been dedicating his services through writing on various including cultural, language development for Bodo and down trodden communities in the region. 

Dr Brahma born on September 1,1940 at Bhumka village under Gossaigaon sub division of Kokrajhar district.He is the second recipient of Padmashri award after Madaram Brahma among Bodos.

Dr Brahma expressed his happiness after getting named for the award said, ' I will keep my writing spirit  while creating literature on various issues like socio-economic development in coming days. I will continue The social services to the welfare of literary and social upliftment. The award has encouraged me to write more creation in my life. I think, this is a blessed of public'.

Kahala Kanta Mushshary, general secretary of Bodo sahitya sabha has congratulated Dr Brahma, who has been named Padmashri award. He hoped that Padmashri award to Brahma will bring glorious step to the Bodo literature in days to coming. 

The All Bodo Students Union has also extended congratulation to Dr Brahma for award winning in Bodo. 

Promod Boro, president and Lawrence Islary, general secretary of the students union respectively extended best wishes over his award winning which is a good recognized for Bodo literary in the country. 

'We hope, this award announcement will encourage budding writer and social services in the region', the leaders said.

Security forces have intensified their combing operation against militant outfits in the region.  Three link men/over ground worker of the National Democratic Front of Boroland-Songbijit faction were apprehended by security forces in a joint operation at Ripu Reserve Forest on Sunday morning in Kokrajhar district. A businessman was hospitalized after attacked with sharp weapon by miscreants at Champa bazaar area on Friday evening in Kokrajhar district. An emergency response mock drill was conducted by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) at Habrubari in Kokrajhar district on Friday,which was a part of offsite emergency mock on the IOCL Guwahati-Siliguri underground pipeline to test the preparedness of its emergency personnel.
