Veteran journalist Chino Basumatary no more
It is shock news that a torch bearer of journalism in Lower Assam’s Bodoland region and senior journalist and Editor of Bodosa,a daily newspaper published from Kokrajhar Chino Basumatary passes away this morning at 9 AM at a private Nursing Home in Guwahati.
Basumatary, was a one of senior most journalist of Lower Assam’s Bodoland region, started his career as editor in Aronai, a fortnight news paper in Bodo language in 1986, hold editorship and proprietor of Bodosa weekly from 1991 to 2005 and then he soldiered editorship of upgraded Bodosa Daily newspaper from 2006 to till his death.
Basumatary born in 1953 at Kashikotra of Chirang district and then involved with journalism profession in his whole life publishing newspaper in Bodoland language. He was admitted to Internatonal Hospital in Guwahati since few days back following suffering of diseases and breathed his last today. He left a son, two daughters behind his wife. He was 62. He is regarded longest newspaper runner in Bodo language (29 years) and a senior most journalist among journalist fraternity in Lower Assam region.
He was also founder president of Bodoland Jouranlist Association, former two-time president of All Assam Small Newspaper Association. He has also been hold Trustee of Media Trust, Assam through which Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma Memorial Journalist Guest House was founded at Rupnagar in Guwahati.Various organisation and individuals condoled over his demise including Kokrajhar Press Club, MLA Pramila Rani Brahma, ABSU.

The Mwihur International Theatre Festival has ended in Kokrajhar, Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
The seven-day festival took place at the Bodofa Cultural Complex, Chandamari. Thirteen plays were performed by renowned artists from around the world, in various languages including Bodo, Assamese, Nepali, Hindi, Sinhala, and Malayalam. The festival was organized by the Lwrgi Theatre Group and supported by the BTR government.

Security forces apprehend a NDFB(S) cadre from Basabil area under Gossaigaon PS on Sunday in Kokrajhar district.
