Much to a major boost for Congress in rank and file in Assam, Prashant Kishore has agreed to help the ruling party in the assembly polls March next year.
The brain behind the grand alliance in Bihar, who held a round of informal talks with Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi recently, left New Delhi for Guwahati on Thursday afternoon.
Sources told Assam Times in New Delhi that the poll Chanakya will hunker down with Tarun Gogoi and Rahul Gandhi on Friday to finalise the pre poll strategy when the Congress vice president will on a two days visit to the state on Friday.
"Gogoi recently talked to Prashant at the instance of Rahulji who agreed, in principle, to help Gogoi retain the power in Dispur," said a senior AICC leader.
Notably, former Chief Minister and AGP leader Prafulla Kumar Mahanta met Kishore in the capital on Tuesday evening and discuss the strategy an anti-Congress and anti-BJP wave in Assam. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar helped Mahanta met the poll strategist at the Bihar Bhawan in the evening.

GUWAHATI:Amid growing attack on Congress over suspicious and mysterious stand on the NRC related statement on Mamata Banerjee, the opposition party on Sunday made it plain and simple that there is no question of opposing NRC. Addressing a press conference in Guwahati party president Ripun Bora and senior leader Pradyut Bordoloi said the party had been supporting an updated NRC and it would keep supporting it. DIPHU: In yet another bizarre incident that sends huge shock and anger across the state, a minor boy allegedly molested and killed a 6 year old girl in Karbi Anglong district on Friday. NAMRUP: The local residents in Namrup rescued a stranger in dire strait on Friday who is now battling for life at the Assam Medical College in Dibrugarh. Ramesh Murmu, a local resident discovered the unidentified person at the railway station premises in the morning and passed the information to the railway police. Then a local pharmacist offered him primary treatment before sending him to the state dispensary. Then finally he was rushed to the Assam Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
