Assam BJP's poll panel is meeting in New Delhi on Wednesday where poll candidates are set to be screened.
Central BJP leaders told Assam Times that Chief Ministerial candidate Sarbananda Sonowal is presiding over the meeting in presence of Ram Madhab, Biyoja Chakrabarty, Ramen Deka, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma.
The shortlisted candidates would be examined later. The meeting is also expected to consider the fate of the 7 newly inducted MLAs who have joined the party.
"The panels of the poll candidates, mostly, were prepared during Siddharth Bhattacharya's tenure asstate president. Now Sonowal and team are expected to reconsider these," said a senior BJP leader.
