It's big big breaking news. A section of ULFA's middle rung leaders, mostly from its crack unit, are striking a deal with the government for peace process albeit both the parties have agreed to maintain secrecy.
Accordingly to information, miffed at ULFA C-in-C Paresh Baruah and Chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa's autocratic style of functioning, a section top ULFA cadres have been in close touch contact with Dispur. Led by four top cadres of the ULFA’s dreaded 28th Battalion have finalised the deal on June 14 which lack support from from the ULFA supremo Paresh Baruah. The Assam government has already intimated it to the Prime Minister's Office which is set to formalise the pact.
These four leaders namely jailed leaders of the 28th Battalion-Prabal Neog and Mrinal Hazarika sent a letter to chief minister Tarun Gogoi for needful action. Sources closed to peace broker Dr Indira Goswami has admitted that process by Mrinal Hazarika, Prabal neog et al.
The initial stage of this deal was moved two moths ago while Mrinal sent a letter to Chief Minister Gogoi through a top ranked police office while the latter was visiting the Dibrugarh jail where Mrinal has been languishing since he was arrested.
But the government has been keeping this deal secretly and ULFA also vehemently denied it saying it a handiwork of Indian army and the Centre to spread the misinformation to virtually demoralise the outfit.
Notably, ULFA strike has been halting for the last couple of month but the Army have been rolling roughshod over these ULFA cadres in the name of encounters. These encounters have killed 17 ULFA cadres from June 1 to June 16.

A NDFB-S rebel identified as Buddhiram Basumatary alias Birkw of Amteka Debrabil in Chirang district was apprehanded from Karigaon area in Kokrajhar by security forces belonging to the Army on Sunday morning.
