Bhupen Hazarika commemoration event

To commemorate the fourth death anniversary of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika, the Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Foundation (BHF), in association with the Care Luit and Pragjyoti Communications, is organizing a national forum at the India Islamic Cultural Center auditorium, New Delhi on November 5, 2015. The forum will be attended by BHF co-founder Tej Hazarika.

The singer-songwriter, artist, educationist and film-maker Dr. Bhupen Hazarika was also a peacemaker during times of conflicts. His accomplishments in this area are in the public record. Whereas he appreciated the astonishing diversity within the country as one of its greatest assets, he was acutely aware of the great need for people to cultivate a respectful reverence for human values and difference in order to create a more equitable and happier society. In order to highlight his achievements in this area there will be two topics to be discussed at teh event beginning at 10 am.

> His life, works and creativity

> His role concerning peace and conflict in India

Leading educators, journalists, writers and social activists will participate in the discussion. They will also be available to interact with audience members.

One of the chief objectives of BHF is to promote research and discussion on his views. ‘We will also consider the validity today of some of his earlier academic recommendations for the education of India’s masses through the medium of audio-visual education. By translating his works into some leading languages, we hope to expose more people to Dr. Hazarika’s non-sectarian, sane legacy for India.’ A press release stated.
