DHDAC chief Debojit Thaosen quits

Finally, Chief executive member of the Dima Hasao District Autonomous Council Debojit Thaosen has put in his papers minutes before he faced floor test in Haflong on Saturday.

Debojeet ThaosenThaosen resigned a week after two Congress executive members joined BJP along with a few independent members including Juel Garolsa.

Last week a BJP delegation met Assam governor PB Acrarya where they staked claim to form the BJP-led council. Then the governor asked Thaosen to clear the floor test on Saturday. Thaosen on Saturday put in his papers to the governor through the council chairman.

An awareness campaign about the need to provide safe passage to Amur falcons is going to be held on October 31 to November 1 at Umrangso, in Dima Sasao district. Amur falcons, a migratory bird from Siberia and China, stops over at Umrangso in the central Assam district on their route to Africa. The NC Hills Aautonomous Council Employees Union has suspended their strike on Monday. President Prasana Hasnu stated that they had a meeting with the new CEM Niranjan Hojai who promised to clear their dues.
After weeks of instability BJP leader Niranjan Hojai was formally elected as the Chief Executive Member of the NC Hills Autonomous Council on Saturday. Hojai got 23 votes,  from 18 Congress members who joined BJP apart from the 6 independent members. Now Hojai will form his executive body of the council.Governor PB Acharya convened the session on Saturday after Debojeet Thaosen resigned as CEM last week.BJP got 1 seat in the 11th North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council election held in May 2013.
