PWD engineer in police remand

Police on Thursday got remand of Amitabh Sarma for three days after the PWD engineer in Chirang district was arrested in connection with a Rs 1.5 crore scam in the department. 

Before that he was produced before the Kajalgan CJM who remanded Sarma to police custody. The multi crore scam rocked the department in the link road construction of Palashbari Padmapur along the 31 National Highway under 2009-2010 fiscal. 

The scam came to light after the conscious citizens took resort to RTI.
