Apiculture awareness in Tezu

A bee keeping awareness and sericulture development training evokes no less response from local farmers at Tezu area in Lohit district of Arunachal Pradesh.
Organized by handlooom and textile, sericulture, agriculture, fisheries and horticulture department, the training started at the Craft Centre Complex in Tezu from last week which was inaugurated by the Tezu Zila parishad member in presence of goan burahs, PRI members along with the heads of many departments.

Colleges re-clubbed with GU from BU

Kokrajhar,Dec 9: As man as 23 Colleges from BTAD areas  have  re-clubbed with Guwahati University from Bodoland University due to lack of 12B issue setting at rest the huge confusion among the  students. But,the semester examination in Bodoland Univerity is underway with thin participations.

 The Bodoland University(BU) was set up through the spirit of the historic 2003 BTC Accord to faciliatate higher studies in the region and since then state government established the Bodoland University under State Act. Presently,the BU has been running its own syllabus and calender as per UGC norms and have 45 Colleges which are affiliated so far. But interestingly, 23 affiliated Colleges have been re-clubbed with GU on December 6 through the four-parties-meeting over the current running of the Bodoland University convened by education department and hence students have been reportedly face deprived from seating the semester examination on Friday.

While talking to this Correspondent on Saturday, Prof Hemanta Kumar Baruah,Vice-Chnacelore of the Bodoland University said that the BU has so far not been getting 12B status, so several colleges have been re-clubbed under GU,which was resolved at a meeting held in Guwahati. He said that there are 45 colleges from BTAD region as well its adjoining districts were affiliated under BU,but two-days back 23 Colleges have been re-clubbed to the GU through the minutes of a four-parties-meeting held on December 6.

 

 He said that the BU had been arranged all necessary arrangements to conduct semester examinations,which was started from December 8, but only students from three colleges participated in the examination. He has been revealed that the BU has yet to be getting the 12B status, of which why most of the colleges re-clubbed under GU. He said that students face hardships while attending pursuing their examinations due to non-clear policy on making respective managements in between education department and state governemnt..

Security beefed up during counting

A vigil security has been beefed up in the strong room where ballot boxes of the BTC election were kept. 

Three strong rooms were arranged in three subdivision of Kokrajhar district which includes Gossaigaon,Parbatjhora and Kokrajhar for 12 constituencies of Kokrajhar district to the fate of 88 candidates from various party and organisations including BPF, BJP, Congress, PCDR, Agp. 

One each company from CRPF was deployed besides Assam police and some other jawans from security forces to guard the strong rooms in the district . More security forces would also be deployed in constituency wise during counting of votes tomorrow, said a senior police officer in Kokrajhar. 

The district administration has geared up to maintain peace and harmony during counting of votes and appealed for social integration in the district. The counting will begin from 8 am and expected that result declaration would be completed by afternoon, told a senior officer in district administration.

GUWAHATI: Hundreds of people joined a CPI sponsored procession in Guwahati streets on Wednesday in protest against the demolition of two Lenin statues in Tripura after BJP-IPFT alliance decimated the Left Front in the recent polls.

With banners, play cards, the protesters shouted slogans against the BJP leadership for failing to rein in the party goons who pulled down two statues in Tripura during the last two days.

“We demand strict action against the mob who did it Belonia and Sabroom. But why the police have yet to attest even a single miscreant?,” said Deepika Gogoi who joined the procession.

Durgeswar Nath, a Left worker said,” before taking action against the workers why Ram Madhab be questioned gir his statement which incited the goons to act.”
