Police have stepped up operation against Gopinath Das who has been remaining untraced after police registered a rape against the AIUDF MLA a couple of days back. Boko police on Saturday carried out simultaneous raids in five places in search of Das who allegedly raped his minor domestic help inside his car.
A team of Boko police raided a house in Goalpara in search of Das who was not available. Then another team picked up his two bother in laws to be questioned in this connection.His last hope remains on the Gauhati High Court who is take his anticipatory bail plea on Monday.

Dondeshwar Chetia is back up the Parliamentary Seceratry and Local MLA mahmora Sri Sorat Saikia, Lakhi Handique is a new comer in congress party and Hemo Gogoi is an experienced politicians among these three rivals. Hemo Gogoi is also fevourate candidate of the union minister and king maker Bijoy Krishna Handique, but Mr B.K. Handique is still silent in this regard.
People are thinking that most probability Hemo Gogoi would be the chairman of the Sivasagar District council.
With the immersion of clay idol of Devi Durga in the water of Dayang River 5 KM from Haflong , the five-day long ‘Sharadiya Utsav’ throughout the Dima Hasao district concluded with traditional fervors and gaiety on Monday.
The agonizing financial crisis due to non-payment of salaries to both the council and state employees for the months together failed to dampen the Puja spirit of the people of Dima Hasao district. The Puja committees however curtailed the budget in comparison to the earlier years keeping in view of the people’s financial hardships.
Today, from early morning, hundreds of devotees mostly the women folk thronged at the various pandals/mandaps to offer sweets ‘tel-sindur’(Oil and vermilion) to Devi and to bid farewell to Goddess Durga. Before immersion of the Idol, all the Puja committees took out a procession from the respective pandals marched through the Haflong town converged at Dayang River in a disciplined way. People were seen waiting on the roadside to honour Devi.
BIJOY KR BURAGOHAIN JORHAT: Hundreds of APYCS activists spilled to the road in Teok on Thursday evening and strongly took on Sukumar Biswas, who negated the rights of the people of Assam to oppose the move to settle in Hindu immigrants. Shouting slogans against the Hindu Bengali organization, the APYCS leaders and activists burnt tyres on the road to register the protest against the organization in question.
“Disgusting indeed. Who have given Sukumar Biswas the right to invite the Hindu oursiders. This fellow must be brought to book. Otherwise, we won't relent,” said Manoj Gogoi who leads the organization.
