There won’t be any Don Bosco statue in Guwahati to honour the saint educator on his 200th birthanniversary. The Don Bosco Society has cleared its position after the miscreants thrown a statue at the river Bharalu recently in protest against the move to install it in the area.
Don Bosco Society president V.M. Thomas said in his official statement that they had no intention to hurt the sentiments of the people. He further rued that a section of the people has been trying to extract political mileage out of the incident which is painful.
Miscreants threw a statue into the river hours before chief minister Tarun Gogoi was supposed to unveil the statue at Bharalumukh on August 7 which brewed a simmering controversy.
