Issue not properly raised in House

Parliamentary affairs minister Rockybul Hussain said that the BJP MLAs should have raise the issue following the laid down rules of the House. The Speaker on Wednesday asked the BJP MLAs to follow the procedure. Then the Speaker had no option.

Dibrugarh MLA Prashanta Phukan raised the issue demanding a statement from the government. But only to be opposed by the ruling Congress members.

Amid a noisy scene, Speaker Pranab Kumar Gogoi rejected the demand. Then the four Oppostion MLAs staged walk out alleging that the denial is undemocratic.

On Monday, a group of people attacked a police party which had gone to arrest a person who was declared to be a Bangladeshi national by a foreigners tribunal.

The attack, which helped the illegal immigrant flee from his house, was allegedly led by two general secretaries of the Morigaon district Congress committee.
