Security forces are fanning in the nook and corner of Guwahati city in search of a bomb which is believed to have been planted at a bicycle in the run up to the Independence Day.
All district authorities have received similar instructions from Dispur keeping army, police and paramilitary forces on alert following the input of jehadi forces who have been waiting to strike before the red letter day.
In a letter to the district authorities it is said, “Militant outfits, particularly the anti-talk faction of ULFA, are likely to plant IEDs in bicycles for explosion."
DGP Khagen Sarma told reporters that the past experience suggest that the militants can use cycles and vehicles to plant IEDs.
He disclosed that apart from ULFA and NDFB, Islamists militants are targeting some vital spots on August 15.
