Despite stiff resistance and impending legal hurdles, Dispur is preparing to appoint the selected candidates in the ACS, APS and allied services in a day or two.
Sources told Assam Times that the process to issue formal appointment orders gathered momentum on Saturday after the government received a confidential suggestion from the advocate general AK Borgahain to go ahead.
In his letter sent on Saturday, the advocate general said that the high court has not asked the government to keep the appointment process pending even after accepting Akhil Gogoi’s PIL alleging anomalies and corruption in the combined competitive examination to select candidates for ACS, APS and allied services. The high court is scheduled to hear the PIL on August 14.
