Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi talks of smart villages across the state with a huge Rs 25, 000 crore fund months after the Centre mulled smart cities.
In his letter to the Centre, Gogoi stressed rural areas with the smart villages concept in a big way.
He observed that the villagers should be allowed to avail of all the urban amenities. Faster progress is possible only with the smart villages across the country. “It's the most effective way to bridge the rural-urban divide," said Gogoi.
According to him, former President APJ Abdul Kalam's concept of 'Providing Urban Amenities in Rural Areas' (PURA) should be taken up on a 'mission mode.
