Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi mires in yet another controversy over the proposed AIIMS two days after his government cleared a huge plot in the outskirt of the city for the project.
Talking to reporters on Sunday Nagaon MP Rajen Gohain accused Gogoi of shifting the AIIMS site to North Guwahati from the central part of the state.
“This a dirty conspiracy by none other than Chief minister to shift the project from Nagaon district,” alleged Gohain.
Gohain said that he would take up the matter with the authority to ensure that the hospital is set up in central Assam.
Notably, the revenue department in consultation with the health and family welfare department cleared a huge plot of 571 bigha in Amingaon for the proposed AIIMS.
Expressing dismay over the fate of an important road, named after Assam’s pioneer litterateur Sahityasamrat Lakshminath Bezbarua, the Patriotic People’s Front Assam (PPFA) urges the concerned authorities to reopen the road connecting Guwahati Railway station with Nehru Park/Gauhati Town Club point on MG road. The forum of nationalist citizens argues that LNB road should be reorganised for daily use by the commuters as well as heavy vehicles approaching the Reserve Bank of India office, Army Transit Camp and the busiest railway station of the region.
