A massive inferno reduced properties worth lakhs of rupees to ashes in Basistha area on Thursday forcing the authorities to deploy army to deal with the situation.

Originated at a hut, the devastating inferno started spreading in the evening at the Nepalibasti area at a stone’s distance from the police station.

The explosion of at least 15 LPG cylinders aggravated the situation where more than ten fire tenders found it quite difficult to bring the situation under control.

As many as fifteen people are feared to have sustained injury to be rushed to the GMCH for treatment. Details are awaited.
