Assamese travel fiction released

It was a homely meeting organized at Guwahati Press Club that witnessed the release of a travel fiction titled Ontarior Seuj Dalisat (Over Green Carpet of Ontario) and penned by Dr Jagadindra Raychoudhury in presence of several senior journalists. Inaugurating the book, Swapnaneel Barua, a scholar and also a senior bureaucrat of Assam, pointed out that the writer not only documented various events related to his visit to Canada, but also painted a humanist reminiscence with his created characters.

The function, held on 1 July 2015, was also addressed by senior journalists like Hiten Mahanta, Rupam Barua, PJ Barua, Mukul Kalita, Ranen Kumar Goswami, Nava Thakuria and Pramod Kalita. Moderated by journalist Sabita Lahkar, the meeting was graced by acclaimed story writer Jyotish Sikder, professors Anup Talukder & Nirmali Medhi, singers Anindita Choudhury & Kishor Giri and Bitopan & Sneha. A prolific writer, Dr Raychoudhury is an associate professor of B Barua College, Guwahati and contributor to various Assam based newspapers and magazines. A smiling personality Dr Raychoudhury is also a regular participant in various radio programs and television talk shows. Published by Basundhara publication of Hatigaon in Guwahati, the book has 192 pages with a nice cover designed by prominent artist Padma Singha. It is priced at Rs 250/- per copy.

we know or have read many travel related books but "Ontario'r heuj dolisat" is not only a travel experience but is a travel fiction..A great experience as you keep on reading this book and gain new knowledge & issues..we expect many new books from him and wish him success..

In a view to stepping up the probe into the Sheena Bora murder case, the Mumbai police have flown Mikhile Bora to be quizzed in connection with the sensational case.The Mumbai police team which arrived in Guwahati on Thursday left Guwahati on Friday morning along with Sheena’s younger brother where he would be quizzed by the Mumbai police commissioner who is leading the investigation. KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi targeted Himantas Biswa Sarma on Thursday saying that he has already damaged AASU, AGP and Cotton College. The Gauhati High Court has allowed the sale of the four wheelers that meet prescribed crash test and emission norms in the country.The court issued the order after taking up a petition filed by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers challenging the Assam state transport department's move to ban the popular cars such as Maruti Alto and Swift as well as Hyundai EON and i10 hatchback. Youth Congress activists in Jalukabari are holding a huge meeting against Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma who is set to formally join BJP on Friday.Youth Congress leaders decided to hold the rally to prevent Dr Sarma’s fans from joining BJP. “Several senior Congress leaders are expected to join the rally on Thursday,” said a youth Congress leader.  Another youth Congress leader said, “we want to show our strength in Jalukbari even in the absence of Himanta Biswa Sarma.”
AAKRSA and ABSU have withdrawn 12 hour Baksa bandh on Thursday demanding exemplary punishment for the driver and his assistant who gangraped two a minor girl inside a passenger bus in Goreswar last week.The organizations have finalized the decision after the authorities have assured them of stern action against the perpetrators. Police have arrested one of the rapists who is being interrogated. Another is still absconding.     
Yet another gangrape incident in Barpeta sends no less sensation across the state on Wednesday. The shocking incident took place inside a house in Howly beside the Barpeta Medical College Hospital where four youths gangraped a 12 year old local girl.Later she was left under the Howly overbridge. The parents of the victim lodged a complaint before police. The accused are still on the run. The incident assumes significance hardly a week a after a private bus driver and his assistant gangraped a minor girl inside their bus in Goreswar triggering massive protest across the state.
